Lesley Yalen is the woman behind Open Quote. A writer and a writing teacher as well as an editor, Lesley understands the power of the written word and the struggle to get it “just right.” She knows that a manuscript can feel like “your baby” and also like your biggest burden, and she enjoys helping writers at all stages of the process meet their goals.
Lesley has been working tirelessly in pursuit of precise, concise, and elegant prose since 1998, when she began writing and editing for academics, organizations, and professionals. She has worked on books, articles, dissertations, grant proposals, websites, publicity materials, and more. She has also worked extensively with ESL writers.
Lesley is also a poet and fiction writer, and she teaches creative writing to adults and young people. She received her BA from Brown University and her MFA in creative writing from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
